Product

What is Objectiv vs Objective?
Objectiv (AZO) is the desktop workbench—editor, terminal, marketplace, settings. Objective is the agent that runs inside it. See naming.
Is Objectiv a VS Code fork?
No. It uses Monaco and familiar ergonomics but ships its own shell (Tauri), curated marketplace, and embedded agent—not the VS Code product or Open VSX as the extension store.
Which operating systems are supported?
macOS (Intel & Apple Silicon), Windows 10/11 64-bit, and Linux (.deb / AppImage). Details: download.
Do I need an account to use Community?
No for local coding. SSO is required to publish marketplace packs or access publisher-only doc flows.

Agent

Does the agent require Enterprise?
No. Coding tools are in Community. Enterprise adds licensed on-behalf chat, mail, and meetings. Agent guide.
What is approve-before-apply?
File changes from the agent wait for your explicit approval in the UI. Setting: objectiv.agent.approveBeforeApply.
Can the agent run arbitrary shell commands?
It invokes the integrated terminal as your user—subject to your OS permissions. You should review proposed commands in context of your team policy.
Does the agent upload my repo to the cloud?
With local Ollama, inference stays on your network. With cloud APIs, prompts and file excerpts sent to the model follow that provider’s path—choose endpoints your security team accepts.

Enterprise

How do I get Enterprise seats?
Through org onboarding with A-Zing—admins receive activation codes. Listed on a-zing.org. Pricing.
Where is the license server?
https://license.project-objectiv.com — activate and refresh documented in editions.
What happens when JWT expires?
Use Refresh license in Settings. Enterprise features pause until refresh succeeds; Community coding continues.
Is there a dev Enterprise shortcut?
Local dev builds may honor dev-only flags documented in repository editions markdown—production builds enforce license checks.

Marketplace

Can I install VS Code extensions?
No. Only Objectiv catalog kinds (theme, snippets, config, etc.) that the runtime loads. Browse marketplace.project-objectiv.com.
Where are packages stored?
Desktop: ~/.objectiv/apps/<id>/. Catalog URL defaults to production JSON; override in settings.
How do I publish?
Community publishers doc—PR to catalog in repo or publisher flow after SSO login.
Community install cap?
Community tier may cap installs (e.g. 10); Enterprise unlocks full catalog—see pricing table.

Models

Which model should I use?
Team choice—local code models via Ollama for privacy, or corporate gateways for quality. See models guide and OBJECTIV_MODELS.md in repo.
Where are API keys stored?
In Objectiv app settings storage—not in your git tree. Rotate in UI without rebuild.

Security

How is on-behalf send prevented without license?
UI may hide or disable comms tools; sidecar rejects unlicensed tool calls in production builds (E3 gating in editions roadmap).
Curated marketplace rationale?
Extensions are JSON manifest packs the app understands—not arbitrary binary code from an open store—reducing supply-chain surprise.
Network endpoints to allowlist
Optional: marketplace host, license host, your model gateway, SSO, and chat provider APIs you configure. Coding offline works without them except model host if not local.

Build & deploy

Objective sidecar won't start
See objectiv/docs/OBJECTIVE_PILOT_OBJECTIV.md. Check Python/Node paths and free ports.
Where are CI installers?
Download page will list promoted artifacts; until then build with npm run build under objectiv/desktop.
This website deployment
Marketing site syncs to VPS via project-objectiv/scripts/deploy-vps.sh; nginx serves static public/ plus license worker routes.
